The Biden administration is set to spend $86.9 million to house family units unlawfully crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, officials at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed to The Epoch Times.

In a statement to The Epoch Times, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Acting Director Tae D. Johnson said a short-term contract was awarded to Endeavors, a San Antonio, Texas-based non-profit organization, to provide “temporary shelter and processing services for families who have not been expelled and are therefore placed in immigration proceedings for their removal from the United States.”

Illegal Aliens to Receive 4.38 Billion in Stimulus Checks:Report

As Americans start to receive the latest round of stimulus checks, a new analysis reveals that about $4.38 billion will also go to illegal immigrants.

The Center for Immigration Studies estimates that 2.65 million illegal immigrants have Social Security numbers that allow them to receive stimulus checks. This group of illegal immigrants can be described as “aliens temporarily present without status,” according to Steven Camarota, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies.

“These individuals are in the country illegally and could be required to leave. Yet, under the current system, they are still given work authorization and Social Security numbers,” he said. .  Read more about Illegal Aliens to Receive 4.38 Billion in Stimulus Checks:Report

A Look Inside H.R. 6, the Bill That Would Provide Legal Status to Minors Brought to US Illegally

The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives passed H.R. 6 on Thursday in a 228-197 vote, with nine Republicans joining them. The bill includes two main provisions, one of them, The Dream Act and The America Promise Act, would, if enacted, grant legal status to children who were brought to the United States illegally.

Advocates for the reform say it would give children brought to the country through no fault of their own, a path to citizenship. But opponents say the bill sends a message that illegal entry to the United States will be rewarded and encourages trafficking of minors to take advantage of loopholes in the immigration system.  .   .

The Border Crisis May Be Coming to Your Kids’ School

Commentary

The Biden administration is scrambling to shelter thousands of unaccompanied minors crossing the southern border from Central America. The media are declaring the crush at the border a “crisis.”

Truth is, this crisis could be heading to your school district. If your kids are in public school or you pay school taxes, you need to know the facts.

The media show photos of young migrant children. Don’t fall for that. Three-quarters of these unaccompanied minors are young men ages 15 to 17. Think tattoos, not teddy bears. .

GOP Rep Hits Biden's DHS Secretary with Question He Doesn't Want to Hear

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas seems to have learned a lesson or two from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi about avoiding tough questions. All one has to do is discredit the question itself.

Mayorkas took questions from lawmakers on Wednesday at a virtual hearing before the House Homeland Security Committee on “The Way Forward on Homeland Security.”

In two short months, the Biden administration has squandered the fruits of years of hard work to rein in the chaos at our southern border. As a result of a series of foolish executive orders signed by President Joe Biden on the day he was inaugurated, the conditions at the border have deteriorated into what can only be described as a crisis. . . Cartels Use Wristbands to Track Human Smuggling Over Border

McALLEN, Texas—Illegal border-crossers are coming into the United States wearing wristbands that relate to the smuggling organization or cartel that they paid to cross the river, according to new reports and confirmation by Border Patrol agents.

The wristbands have been spotted on illegal immigrants in the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas, as well as discarded on the ground beyond the river. Some illegal aliens were found wearing two different colored wristbands.

The system “basically outlines a process that the smugglers are using to know who paid, who didn’t, so that they can start moving them through—because they’ve got so many people backing up,” according to Jaeson Jones, a former captain in the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The wristbands have numbers, words, and logos on them. “We’ve seen turtles, we’ve seen devil heads and little snakes,” Jones told The Epoch Times. The Gulf Cartel (CDG) is using the word “metal” to signify a certain leader on the Mexico side, he said. . . Read more about Cartels Use Wristbands to Track Human Smuggling Over Border

Human Traffickers Feed Off Loose Border Laws: ‘America’s Forgotten’ Director

The Biden administration’s much looser stance on immigration than the previous administration is raising new discussion on the broader impacts of encouraging illegal entry into the United States.

The documentary film “America’s Forgotten” explores the death, torture, and suffering that surrounds illegal immigration, a topic that Hollywood appears to view too sensitive to touch.

The Epoch Times’ senior reporter Joshua Philipp interviewed Singh Gujral, the award-winning filmmaker and director of “America’s Forgotten.”. . Read more about Human Traffickers Feed Off Loose Border Laws: ‘America’s Forgotten’ Director

Biden Administration Refuses To Say How Many Kids Are In Cages; Florida Takes Legal Action

Since he took office nearly two months ago, Joe Biden has failed to address the public regarding any of the issues facing our country, most specifically the crisis at the border.

Even his press secretary, Jen Psaki, skirts around the topic, refusing to confirm reports that the number of detained unaccompanied minors at the border has tripled since Biden took office.

“I’m not going to confirm numbers from here,” Psaki said during the White House press briefing. “Obviously, the Department of Homeland Security and others are overseeing the programs and engagements that happen at the border.”. . Cruz, Hawley Criticize Biden After Report That CBP Closed Down 3 Highway Checkpoints in Arizona

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. Josh Hawley(R-Miss.) on March 9 criticized the Biden administration in response to a report that Customs and Border Protection had shut down three highway checkpoints in Arizona.

“How much more will it take for the Biden administration to admit there is a crisis on the border?” Cruz wrote on Twitter on March 9, citing a tweet about the development in Arizona.

“The border is approaching full-blown crisis, and the Biden Admin’s response is … nothing,” Hawley wrote on Twitter on March 9.

A Customs and Border Protection spokesperson told The Epoch Times in an email on March 10 that the checkpoints closed in January “due to shifting trafficking patterns … Specifically an increase in single adults in the Tucson and Three Points stations. A skeleton presence remained for security. Recently, the equipment has been removed from the sites to free up those agents to return to law enforcement duties. . . Arizona and Montana Take Legal Action Against Biden Admin ICE Arrest Regulations

Arizona and Montana are taking legal action (pdf) to block new Biden administration immigration regulations, saying that these would cause negative consequences for the states.

The new rules would limit the capability of ICE to detain some illegal immigrants unless they pose a threat to national security, entered through the border after Nov. 1, or committed aggravated felonies.

The Biden administration says that the rules don’t impair arresting or deporting people, but the officers in the field would need to request permission from their superiors to arrest people outside of the aforementioned cases.

“If asked about the poorest policy choice I’ve ever seen in government, this would be a strong contender,” Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich said in a statement. “Blindly releasing thousands of people, including convicted criminals and those who may be spreading COVID-19 into our state, is both unconscionable and a violation of federal law. This must be stopped now to avoid a dangerous humanitarian crisis for the immigrants and the people of Arizona.”. .
