 A state-level initiative to counter the swarm of illegal immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border into Texas has, to date, resulted in more than 348,000 apprehensions and the seizure of more than 361 million doses of the deadly drug fentanyl.

The initiative, Operation Lone Star, was created by Texas's Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in March 2021.

President Joe Biden’s deputies are drafting a bigger migration swap with Mexico’s president that would burst through Congress’s annual caps on immigration levels, according to the Washington Post.

The political swap would expand a January border-management deal that annually trades 360,000 additional migrants for 360,000 deportations back into Mexico.

The expanded deal would help Mexico’s president deliver more Latinos into U.S. jobs, help Biden’s 2024 campaign staff hide the chaotic arrival of more job-seeking migrants, help business groups get more cheap workers, consumers, and renters, and help progressives divorce from their civic obligations to ordinary Americans. . . .

Earlier this week, Rep. Congressman Tony Gonzales (R-TX) spoke with Breitbart Texas about President Joe Biden’s visit to the border next week and outlined his wish to join the White House delegation to show real problems in the region.

The President’s scheduled visit to El Paso on Sunday will involve meeting with local officials, according to a White House statement issued on Thursday.
