New FAIR Report: Annual Costs of Illegal Immigration Soars to $150.7 Billion a Year

A new report by FAIR, The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration, finds that as of 2022, American taxpayers shell out at least $150.7 billion each year to cover the cost of illegal immigration. Broken down, the data reveals that taxpayers pay $182 billion annually to provide services and benefits to illegal aliens and their dependents. These costs are offset by about $31 billion in taxes that are collected from the estimated 15.5 million illegal aliens living in the United States, bringing the net cost to $150.7 billion annually.

The 2022 costs represent a 30 percent increase to taxpayers in just five years. A former version of this study, conducted in 2017 by FAIR, placed the annual net cost of illegal immigration at $116 billion. Most of the additional costs have been added in the past two years, as the Biden administration’s de facto open borders policies have triggered a historic surge of new illegal migrants pouring across our borders. . . . House Judiciary Committee Passes Major Immigration Bill

Late Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee debated and passed the Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Act of 2023, an extensive security and enforcement-minded bill that aims to end the Biden border crisis.  The final vote of 23-15 fell essentially along party lines, with one Republican voting with Democrats against the bill. The bill now moves to the floor for consideration by the full House of Representatives.

The Border Isn’t Just a Crisis, It’s Also a Grift

There was a time not long ago when Americans would read news stories about obscene levels of corruption in other countries and feel justified in a sense of superiority. Things might not be perfect here, but at least we weren’t that bad. No more. We have now reached the point here where it is that bad. We have surrendered the right to look down our noses at any other country.

One of the most glaring examples of this today can be found in the crisis raging at the U.S.-Mexico border. There have been endless videos of hordes of migrants traversing the Rio Grande and walking into the United States, but that is just a part of the total picture. . . . STYRNA: What American Society Could Pay For With $151 Billion Annually in Taxpayer Money Spent on Illegal Aliens

In a recent study, the Federation for American Immigration Reform demonstrated that an estimated 15.5 million illegal aliens and their 5.4 million U.S.-born children cost American taxpayers a net annual sum of $150.7 billion as of the start of 2023. That is a whopping 30% increase since 2017. The average American taxpayer is thus on the hook for $957 per year – and that’s after any taxes paid by illegal aliens are factored in. Given that tax season is upon us, it is worth pointing out this additional fiscal burden foisted upon working- and middle-class Americans, as well as the important things that this money could (and probably should) be funding. Not to mention, in the context of historically high deficits, potential budgetary savings. . . . Joe Biden’s 2023 Border Budget: More Money for Migrants

Biden’s budget asks for money to hire 500 extra border guards who catch migrants — and money to hire 460 more people to release the migrants so they can travel to jobs and housing.

The Democrats’ budget asks for a $4.7 billion “contingency fund” to operate the existing network of non-profit groups, shelters, training courses, travel routes, and healthcare checks which get low-wage migrants into the jobs that would otherwise go to better-paid Americans. . . . Border Advocate Slams Biden’s Budget, Urges Congress to Reject It

“The FY 2024 budget proposal President Biden sent to Capitol Hill … includes billions of dollars to fund his open borders policies,” Dan Stein (pictured), the President of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) contended in a statement. “The goal of the Biden administration is not to curtail the surge, but to create a more orderly process for people to violate our immigration laws,” the President of FAIR stated before going on to note that the budget “includes money to fund the president’s unlawful expansion of parole, use of a phone app to gain entry through ports of entry along the border, and billions more to process and release migrants as quickly as possible.” . . . Hospitals and Taxpayers Hemorrhage With ‘Free’ Health Care For Illegal Aliens

While more than 98,000 illegal aliens were encountered in the Yuma, Ariz., border sector last year – a figure roughly equaling the city’s entire population — the local hospital provided $26 million in uncompensated care to migrants.CEO Robert Trenschel testified at a congressional hearing this month that many border crossers (apparently penniless and in hock to their cartel escorts) come with “significant disease” and required major treatments, ranging from dialysis to heart surgery. The $26 million price tag surely strains the financial health of Yuma and its hospital. But it’s not out of the norm. . . . Read more about Hospitals and Taxpayers Hemorrhage With ‘Free’ Health Care For Illegal Aliens

Migrants Fleeing Crime-Ridden NYC for ‘Better Quality of Life’ in Canada

Migrants are reportedly fleeing daily from New York City to escape the city’s homelessness, public drug abuse, and crime-ridden streets for a “better quality of life” in Canada.

According to sources and migrants who spoke to the New York Post, border crossers who arrived in the sanctuary city on buses mostly from Texas are fleeing the city for Canada where they hope to permanently resettle.

The migrants said they are being given taxpayer-funded bus tickets to leave New York City for the United States-Canada border. Mayor Eric Adams’ (D) office confirmed to the Post that the city is paying for border crossers to secure bus tickets out of the city. . . . FORMER AGENT: The Immigration-Industrial Complex—Not Defending The Border More Lucrative Than Defending It

President Dwight D. Eisenhower once decried the “military-industrial complex.” (Has it brought us the war in Ukraine?) Yet my years in the Border Patrol taught me that there’s also an immigration-industrial complex that is similarly venal, and dangerous.

Northern Virginia has two of the country’s wealthiest counties because so many residents are in the business of government, either as bureaucrats or the federal contractors once called “Beltway Bandits,” or as think tankers and staffers on Capitol Hill. They’re taking taxpayer money in one form or another, and so the biggest business in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area is the government itself. . . .
