Federal Inaction Provokes Strong Anti-Sanctuary Efforts In The States

The lax immigration enforcement policies promulgated by the Biden Administration continue to exacerbate the crisis at the border. However, this crisis has not been confined only to border states. Rather, the effects of human trafficking, drug smuggling, and increased crime are plaguing every state in the US.  Still reeling from the costs related to the COVID pandemic, states are now also being forced to shoulder the additional burdensome costs of illegal immigration. A recent report by FAIR found that at the beginning of 2023, the net costs to US taxpayers for illegal immigration was $150 billion, with states bearing the brunt of these costs –$115 billion. Several states, recognizing the Biden Administration’s failing immigration policies, worked with FAIR to advance anti-sanctuary legislation to enforce the rule of law, discourage illegal immigration and protect their communities from crime. . . . Border Patrol Flying Migrants from the Canadian Border – to Texas?

Last week, Reuters news service reported that the Biden Administration has quietly begun flying illegal aliens apprehended at the Canadian border to Texas.  According to Reuters, the Border Patrol this month placed “about 100 migrants on two charter flights from Plattsburgh, New York, near the border with Canada, to the Texas cities of Harlingen and El Paso.”

As Reuters reports, the U.S. Border Patrol apprehended nearly 2,900 people crossing illegally from Canada into the United States in the five months since October, more than all of fiscal year 2022. About half of those were Mexicans, who do not need a visa to travel to Canada. . . . Read more about Border Patrol Flying Migrants from the Canadian Border – to Texas?

February Border Encounters Show Illegal Immigration Isn't Abating, It's Just Being Rerouted, Charges FAIR

The Biden administration’s new “border enforcement measures” have not succeeded in curbing record levels of illegal immigration, they’ve just rerouted much of the flow through legal ports of entry, charged the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data, released Thursday, reveals that the total number of border encounters in February, 212,266, remained at historic high levels. But due to the Biden administration’s flagrant abuse of parole authority, 83,389 illegal migrants were encountered at legal ports of entry by the Office of Field Operations (OFO), instead of attempting to enter between ports of entry. . . . Biden Unveils Plan to Launder the Unprecedented Flow of Illegal Aliens, Charges FAIR

“After two years of denying that the situation at our southern border constitutes a humanitarian, national security, and public health crisis, President Biden has issued new ‘border enforcement measures’ and ‘additional safe and orderly processes’ for unprecedented numbers of migrants attempting to enter the United States illegally.

“Far from stanching the self-inflicted, unprecedented flow of illegal aliens, the Biden administration announced today that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will now grant parole to Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and (per the prior program) Venezuelans facing ‘unique challenges’ in their home countries. This is not a recognized category under current law for granting entry into the United States, nor does it satisfy the requirements of the parole statute. . . . The State of the Border: New FAIR Issue Brief Paints a Grim Picture of a Self-Induced Disaster

A new illustrated and concise report by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) depicting the exponential growth in illegal immigration since January 2021 shows why he largely avoided the issue. The report graphically illustrates how Biden Administration policies have created a humanitarian, national security, and public health crisis at the border dwarfing anything that came before.

The State of the Border: an Illustrated Analysis of Biden’s Failure to Secure the Southwest Border, shows the staggering increase in the numbers of people encountered entering the country illegally; the number of people encountered who are listed on the federal Terrorist Screening Database; the number of “gotaways” who were detected but eluded apprehension; and the volume of lethal fentanyl seized at the border. . . .
