Report: Biden Administration Places 'Gag Order' on Border Patrol Personnel as Crisis Grows

The Biden administration has reportedly placed an unofficial “gag order” on Border Patrol agents and sector chiefs as a surge of migrants swarm the southern border.

Four current and two former Customs and Border Protection officials said to NBC News that they have been told to deny requests for media “ride-alongs” with agents, and press officers have been told to send any requests for information to the press office in Washington for approval.

Agents responsible for keeping track of the number of migrants in custody have also been told to prevent leaks by not sharing their information. The officials said the restrictions and others like them are often referred to as unofficial “gag orders.”. . Texas Governor: Biden Administration Won’t Allow State Authorities To Visit Child Migrant Camps

Texas Governor Greg Abbott responded to what he called a “humanitarian crisis” occurring on the United States-Mexico border, assailing the Biden administration for keeping Texas state health and law enforcement officials from migrant camps playing host to thousands of unaccompanied minors, and for failing to keep the Texas state government appraised of the situation.

On Tuesday, The Daily Wire reported that the “child migrant crisis” has exploded and that the number of unaccompanied children being held at the border was 300% higher than previously known. Sources told CBS News that “more than 13,000 migrant children who entered the country without their parents are now in U.S. custody.”. . Biden Administration Refuses To Say How Many Kids Are In Cages; Florida Takes Legal Action

Since he took office nearly two months ago, Joe Biden has failed to address the public regarding any of the issues facing our country, most specifically the crisis at the border.

Even his press secretary, Jen Psaki, skirts around the topic, refusing to confirm reports that the number of detained unaccompanied minors at the border has tripled since Biden took office.

“I’m not going to confirm numbers from here,” Psaki said during the White House press briefing. “Obviously, the Department of Homeland Security and others are overseeing the programs and engagements that happen at the border.”. . FAIR Opposes Biden Effort to Delay Implementation of Rule Reducing Abuse of H-1B Program

“President Biden often portrays himself as a man from the ‘working class’ who is a tireless defender of the American worker,” said FAIR President Dan Stein. “Yet his administration is set to postpone, by at least a year, an important rule change that prevents unscrupulous employers from using the H-1B visa program to undercut American workers and wages while ensuring that companies that truly need skilled foreign workers have access to the best and the brightest.” – Dan Stein

(March 11, 2021, Washington, D.C.) – The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) submitted a public comment yesterday to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regarding its decision to postpone the implementation of a Trump administration rule that would reduce abuse of the H-1B program by unscrupulous employers while also protecting American workers. . .

Cruz, Hawley Criticize Biden After Report That CBP Closed Down 3 Highway Checkpoints in Arizona

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. Josh Hawley(R-Miss.) on March 9 criticized the Biden administration in response to a report that Customs and Border Protection had shut down three highway checkpoints in Arizona.

“How much more will it take for the Biden administration to admit there is a crisis on the border?” Cruz wrote on Twitter on March 9, citing a tweet about the development in Arizona.

“The border is approaching full-blown crisis, and the Biden Admin’s response is … nothing,” Hawley wrote on Twitter on March 9.

A Customs and Border Protection spokesperson told The Epoch Times in an email on March 10 that the checkpoints closed in January “due to shifting trafficking patterns … Specifically an increase in single adults in the Tucson and Three Points stations. A skeleton presence remained for security. Recently, the equipment has been removed from the sites to free up those agents to return to law enforcement duties. . . Arizona and Montana Take Legal Action Against Biden Admin ICE Arrest Regulations

Arizona and Montana are taking legal action (pdf) to block new Biden administration immigration regulations, saying that these would cause negative consequences for the states.

The new rules would limit the capability of ICE to detain some illegal immigrants unless they pose a threat to national security, entered through the border after Nov. 1, or committed aggravated felonies.

The Biden administration says that the rules don’t impair arresting or deporting people, but the officers in the field would need to request permission from their superiors to arrest people outside of the aforementioned cases.

“If asked about the poorest policy choice I’ve ever seen in government, this would be a strong contender,” Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich said in a statement. “Blindly releasing thousands of people, including convicted criminals and those who may be spreading COVID-19 into our state, is both unconscionable and a violation of federal law. This must be stopped now to avoid a dangerous humanitarian crisis for the immigrants and the people of Arizona.”. . Biden Rescinds Covid-19 Immigrant Visa Pause

Biden’s order takes direct aim at President Trump’s response to the COVID-19 economic crisis. In the order, Biden writes:

[The April 2020 order] does not advance the interests of the United States. To the contrary, it harms the United States, including by preventing certain family members of United States citizens and lawful permanent residents from joining their families here.  It also harms industries in the United States that utilize talent from around the world.

Trump’s order cited the effects of the COVID-19 economic crisis on the domestic labor market. The unemployment rate in April 2020 stood at 14.8 percent, whereas a year before it stood at just 3.7 percent. Citing labor market conditions, President Trump’s order read:

I have determined that, without intervention, the United States faces a potentially protracted economic recovery with persistently high unemployment if labor supply outpaces labor demand. Excess labor supply affects all workers and potential workers, but it is particularly harmful to workers at the margin between employment and unemployment, who are typically "last in" during an economic expansion and "first out" during an economic contraction. . .

Angel Mom Says Biden Creating "Super Highway" to Border

An Arizona mother whose son was killed by an illegal alien said the Biden administration’s border policies are “absolutely” going to create more “angel families.”

Angel families are relatives of those who have been killed by an illegal immigrant.

“That’s the saddest thing to me of all,” Mary Ann Mendoza told The Epoch Times on Feb. 8. “I’ve been speaking out on this for 5 1/2 years now.”

Mendoza’s son, Brandon, was killed in a 2014 car crash caused by an illegal immigrant who was drunk, high on meth, and speeding along a Mesa, Arizona, highway in the wrong direction. Brandon, a sergeant on the Mesa police force, was 32 years old. . .
