Border sees surge in migrants ahead of Title 42 expiration

TEMPE, Ariz. (NewsNation) — Law enforcement along the southern border is dealing with a surge of migrants and bracing for more as the pandemic-era migrant expulsion program nears its end.

Title 42 is set to expire in just over two weeks, and the number of illegal crossings is already exploding.

In the Rio Grande Valley Sector, U.S. Border Patrol has reported agents in Brownsville seeing large groups, some upward of a thousand, crossing each day.

Just days ago, more than a thousand migrants stormed a vehicle checkpoint, prompting border officials to close the Gateway International Bridge for several hours. Barricades were even put up to prevent people from crossing overnight. . . . Read more about Border sees surge in migrants ahead of Title 42 expiration

DHS Chief Mayorkas Forced to Face Family of Grandmother, Granddaughter Killed Allegedly by Human Trafficker

President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, was forced to face the American family of a grandmother and granddaughter who were killed last month in a high-speed car crash allegedly caused by a human trafficker smuggling 11 illegal aliens through the state of Texas.

In March, police officers attempted to pull over 22-year-old Rassian Natery Comer, who was allegedly smuggling 11 illegal aliens through Texas at the time. Comer, according to officers, refused to stop and began driving at 105 mph while live-streaming the high-speed case on social media

After officers lost sight of Comer, he allegedly ran a red light at an intersection and hit 71-year-old Maria Tambunga and her 7-year-old granddaughter, Emilia Tambunga, who were on their way home from a playdate. . . . Federal Inaction Provokes Strong Anti-Sanctuary Efforts In The States

The lax immigration enforcement policies promulgated by the Biden Administration continue to exacerbate the crisis at the border. However, this crisis has not been confined only to border states. Rather, the effects of human trafficking, drug smuggling, and increased crime are plaguing every state in the US.  Still reeling from the costs related to the COVID pandemic, states are now also being forced to shoulder the additional burdensome costs of illegal immigration. A recent report by FAIR found that at the beginning of 2023, the net costs to US taxpayers for illegal immigration was $150 billion, with states bearing the brunt of these costs –$115 billion. Several states, recognizing the Biden Administration’s failing immigration policies, worked with FAIR to advance anti-sanctuary legislation to enforce the rule of law, discourage illegal immigration and protect their communities from crime. . . . The Border Isn’t Just a Crisis, It’s Also a Grift

There was a time not long ago when Americans would read news stories about obscene levels of corruption in other countries and feel justified in a sense of superiority. Things might not be perfect here, but at least we weren’t that bad. No more. We have now reached the point here where it is that bad. We have surrendered the right to look down our noses at any other country.

One of the most glaring examples of this today can be found in the crisis raging at the U.S.-Mexico border. There have been endless videos of hordes of migrants traversing the Rio Grande and walking into the United States, but that is just a part of the total picture. . . . Border Patrol Buses In America’s Latest Load of Chinese Imports

Flouting a recent court ruling, Border Patrol agents in Brownsville, Texas, are releasing busloads of Chinese nationals into the U.S. amid a massive surge of migrants from the communist country.

Officials say the southern border has seen a more than 900 percent increase in Chinese nationals since last year. There were 1,368 encounters of Chinese migrants in February versus just 55 during February 2022.

In fiscal year 2021, there were 450 encounters of Chinese nationals at the border; in fiscal year 2022, there were 1,176. Since October – just five months into this fiscal year — the number has ballooned to 4,366. . . . Read more about Border Patrol Buses In America’s Latest Load of Chinese Imports

Border Patrol Flying Migrants from the Canadian Border – to Texas?

Last week, Reuters news service reported that the Biden Administration has quietly begun flying illegal aliens apprehended at the Canadian border to Texas.  According to Reuters, the Border Patrol this month placed “about 100 migrants on two charter flights from Plattsburgh, New York, near the border with Canada, to the Texas cities of Harlingen and El Paso.”

As Reuters reports, the U.S. Border Patrol apprehended nearly 2,900 people crossing illegally from Canada into the United States in the five months since October, more than all of fiscal year 2022. About half of those were Mexicans, who do not need a visa to travel to Canada. . . . Read more about Border Patrol Flying Migrants from the Canadian Border – to Texas?

February Border Encounters Show Illegal Immigration Isn't Abating, It's Just Being Rerouted, Charges FAIR

The Biden administration’s new “border enforcement measures” have not succeeded in curbing record levels of illegal immigration, they’ve just rerouted much of the flow through legal ports of entry, charged the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data, released Thursday, reveals that the total number of border encounters in February, 212,266, remained at historic high levels. But due to the Biden administration’s flagrant abuse of parole authority, 83,389 illegal migrants were encountered at legal ports of entry by the Office of Field Operations (OFO), instead of attempting to enter between ports of entry. . . . STYRNA: What American Society Could Pay For With $151 Billion Annually in Taxpayer Money Spent on Illegal Aliens

In a recent study, the Federation for American Immigration Reform demonstrated that an estimated 15.5 million illegal aliens and their 5.4 million U.S.-born children cost American taxpayers a net annual sum of $150.7 billion as of the start of 2023. That is a whopping 30% increase since 2017. The average American taxpayer is thus on the hook for $957 per year – and that’s after any taxes paid by illegal aliens are factored in. Given that tax season is upon us, it is worth pointing out this additional fiscal burden foisted upon working- and middle-class Americans, as well as the important things that this money could (and probably should) be funding. Not to mention, in the context of historically high deficits, potential budgetary savings. . . .
