(March 4, 2021, Washington, D.C.) — The following statement was issued by Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), in opposition to the nomination of Xavier Becerra to lead the Department of Health and Human Services:

“FAIR’s strong concerns about the fitness of Xavier Becerra to lead the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) are clearly reflected in the Senate Finance Committee’s failure to support his nomination.

“HHS is faced with unprecedented strains on its resources as the lead federal agency tasked with dealing with the COVID crisis. The Biden administration’s reckless immigration policies have triggered another border crisis and a growing surge of people coming across our borders and multiplying demands on public health resources. Moreover, because HHS is also responsible for the care and housing of unaccompanied children entering the country illegally, the burden on agency personnel and resources will be even greater. . . Biden has made it clear that his number one mission as president is to undo everything the Trump administration accomplished over the last four years.

His newest cancellation simply does not make sense.

Biden’s administration recently cancelled Operation Talon, a Trump administration program aimed at removing convicted sex offenders living in the United States illegally.

Though the program seems to be something everyone should support, it clearly isn’t. Why would anyone want sex offenders to remain in the country?

They’ve only been in office for a little over two weeks, but President Joe Biden and his administration are already throwing a 2014 party at the southern border — with Mexico’s help.

According to Reuters, officials in Texas are releasing illegal immigrant families from Central America because several Mexican provinces are refusing to take them back. The refusals have led to crowded Border Patrol facilities — and the release of immigrants to shelters.

The Biden administration had tried to preclude this. Yes, it introduced an immigration bill that amounted to amnesty — but it ensured that anyone who arrived in the country after Jan. 1 wouldn’t be eligible for the plan, which would provide an eight-year path to citizenship. . .

A large group of migrants, most likely seeking asylum in the United States, were spotted heading north via a rail route known as La Bestia. The train departed Tierra Blanca, Guanajuato, and will likely arrive at the U.S.-Mexico Border within days, according to Breitbart Texas sources.

A federal judge in Texas issued a temporary restraining order (TRO), this week, provisionally stopping a dangerous Department of Homeland Security memorandum issued on January 20, 2021 that directed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to halt deportations for almost all aliens with removal orders from the country for 100 days. Acting DHS Secretary David Pekoske signed the memorandum on inauguration day, but it appears to have been ghost written by Esther Olavarria, an anti-immigration enforcement advocate who was recently appointed to the Biden Administration. . .
