DHS Secretary: Border is Closed But Children Won't Be Expelled

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says the U.S.–Mexico border is closed, although unaccompanied children who unlawfully cross into the United States won’t be turned back.

“We are expelling families. We are expelling single adults. And we’ve made a decision that we will not expel young, vulnerable children. I think we are executing on our plans,” Mayorkas told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on March 21.

Mayorkas was then asked by Chuck Todd, the host, about whether the policy encourages parents in Mexico and other countries to send their children alone to the border.

“We have a short-term plan, a medium-term plan, and a long-term plan, and the president and I have spoken to this repeatedly. Please remember something: That President [Donald] Trump dismantled the orderly, humane, and efficient way of allowing children to make their claims under United States law in their home countries,” the secretary said, without elaborating. . . Report: Biden Administration Places 'Gag Order' on Border Patrol Personnel as Crisis Grows

The Biden administration has reportedly placed an unofficial “gag order” on Border Patrol agents and sector chiefs as a surge of migrants swarm the southern border.

Four current and two former Customs and Border Protection officials said to NBC News that they have been told to deny requests for media “ride-alongs” with agents, and press officers have been told to send any requests for information to the press office in Washington for approval.

Agents responsible for keeping track of the number of migrants in custody have also been told to prevent leaks by not sharing their information. The officials said the restrictions and others like them are often referred to as unofficial “gag orders.”. . Texas Governor: Biden Administration Won’t Allow State Authorities To Visit Child Migrant Camps

Texas Governor Greg Abbott responded to what he called a “humanitarian crisis” occurring on the United States-Mexico border, assailing the Biden administration for keeping Texas state health and law enforcement officials from migrant camps playing host to thousands of unaccompanied minors, and for failing to keep the Texas state government appraised of the situation.

On Tuesday, The Daily Wire reported that the “child migrant crisis” has exploded and that the number of unaccompanied children being held at the border was 300% higher than previously known. Sources told CBS News that “more than 13,000 migrant children who entered the country without their parents are now in U.S. custody.”. . GOP Rep Hits Biden's DHS Secretary with Question He Doesn't Want to Hear

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas seems to have learned a lesson or two from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi about avoiding tough questions. All one has to do is discredit the question itself.

Mayorkas took questions from lawmakers on Wednesday at a virtual hearing before the House Homeland Security Committee on “The Way Forward on Homeland Security.”

In two short months, the Biden administration has squandered the fruits of years of hard work to rein in the chaos at our southern border. As a result of a series of foolish executive orders signed by President Joe Biden on the day he was inaugurated, the conditions at the border have deteriorated into what can only be described as a crisis. . . Biden Administration Refuses To Say How Many Kids Are In Cages; Florida Takes Legal Action

Since he took office nearly two months ago, Joe Biden has failed to address the public regarding any of the issues facing our country, most specifically the crisis at the border.

Even his press secretary, Jen Psaki, skirts around the topic, refusing to confirm reports that the number of detained unaccompanied minors at the border has tripled since Biden took office.

“I’m not going to confirm numbers from here,” Psaki said during the White House press briefing. “Obviously, the Department of Homeland Security and others are overseeing the programs and engagements that happen at the border.”. . House Democrats Prepare to Vote on Two Amnesty Bills

The U.S. House of Representatives is about to vote on two amnesty bills, all in the midst of rapidly rising border apprehensions and falling ICE arrests. Instead of addressing the self-created Biden border crisis, House Democrats plan to vote on two amnesty bills last seen in the 116th Congress – H.R. 6, the American Dream and Promise Act, and H.R. 1603, the Farm Workforce Modernization Act. Both bills would place millions of illegal aliens on a pathway to citizenship while doing nothing to fix our country’s broken immigration system. . .

FAIR Opposes Biden Effort to Delay Implementation of Rule Reducing Abuse of H-1B Program

“President Biden often portrays himself as a man from the ‘working class’ who is a tireless defender of the American worker,” said FAIR President Dan Stein. “Yet his administration is set to postpone, by at least a year, an important rule change that prevents unscrupulous employers from using the H-1B visa program to undercut American workers and wages while ensuring that companies that truly need skilled foreign workers have access to the best and the brightest.” – Dan Stein

(March 11, 2021, Washington, D.C.) – The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) submitted a public comment yesterday to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regarding its decision to postpone the implementation of a Trump administration rule that would reduce abuse of the H-1B program by unscrupulous employers while also protecting American workers. . .

Cruz, Hawley Criticize Biden After Report That CBP Closed Down 3 Highway Checkpoints in Arizona

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. Josh Hawley(R-Miss.) on March 9 criticized the Biden administration in response to a report that Customs and Border Protection had shut down three highway checkpoints in Arizona.

“How much more will it take for the Biden administration to admit there is a crisis on the border?” Cruz wrote on Twitter on March 9, citing a tweet about the development in Arizona.

“The border is approaching full-blown crisis, and the Biden Admin’s response is … nothing,” Hawley wrote on Twitter on March 9.

A Customs and Border Protection spokesperson told The Epoch Times in an email on March 10 that the checkpoints closed in January “due to shifting trafficking patterns … Specifically an increase in single adults in the Tucson and Three Points stations. A skeleton presence remained for security. Recently, the equipment has been removed from the sites to free up those agents to return to law enforcement duties. . .
