OFIR Alerts and Updates
Welcome to the "what's hot" news and alerts section. This section includes important OFIR action alerts and informational updates that have been sent out in the recent past, as well as hot news items.
Please plan to attend OFIR's upcoming meeting Saturday, September 14 at 2:00pm in Salem, OR at the Best Western Mill Creek Inn just across from Costco.
Chief Petitioners Rep. Kim Thatcher and OFIR VP Richard LaMountain will be our special guests! Rep. Sal Esquivel, the third of the three Chief Petitioners volunteered for four hours in our State Fair booth, but will be unable to join us Saturday due to a scheduling conflict.
We will give an update on the referendum petition campaign and salute our awesome volunteers and contributors. Please bring any filled signature sheets with you to turn in for processing. If you need additional supplies we will have them on hand for you.
Thank you to each and every one of you that are working so very hard to ensure the success of this campaign. We have only one 3 weeks left, so we must really put the pedal to the metal until we are over the finish line. Do not let up, victory is in sight!
Be sure to stop by our booth at the Oregon State Fair. Sign the referendum petition, if you haven't already, through Labor Day.
You will find our booth just outside the Columbia Exhibit Hall under the red and white striped awnings.
See you there! Visit our Photo Gallery.
Hurry and perhaps you can still make it:

A group dedicated to overturning a new Oregon law that grants driver-privilege cards to people without conventional documentation has come up with a quick way to gather petition signatures.
It’s encouraging motorists to participate in drive-through democracy.
“You don’t even need to get out of your car,” said Jim Ludwick, the group’s communications director. “Just drive up, sign the petition and drive away.”
If you haven't had the opportunity to sign the referendum petition to overturn SB833 - the new law giving driver privilege cards to people in the country illegally - it doesn't get any easier than this. Just drive up, sign the petition and drive away. You don't even need to get out of your car!
Protect Oregon Driver Licenses will be hosting a DRIVE-THRU signature gathering event this FRIDAY, August 23, from 12 noon until 8:00pm in the parking lot at Market St. and Savage Rd., just west of the freeway at exit 213. Watch for the signs guiding you in.
Volunteers will be available if you have any questions, or if you would like to pick up supplies so that you can collect signatures of your friends, neighbors and family members, too. The deadline of October 4th is rapidly approaching and we need 58,142 valid signatures.
PODL will also be hosting a booth at the Oregon State Fair - just outside the southeast corner of the Columbia Exhibit Hall. Please drop by and say hello!
Protect Oregon Driver Licenses has just six weeks left to collect the signatures we need to get on the ballot and overturn SB 833 - the new law giving driver privilege cards to illegal aliens. Below is a list of cities and towns whose residents have requested signature gathering supplies to help us succeed. If your town isn't on the list then perhaps you should call and request supplies, too!
We would love to see every city and town in the state represented in this fight to overturn this harmful legislation. Go to: www.ProtectOregonDL.org to request signature gathering supplies.

Congress will adjourn at the end of the week for summer recess. Your elected officials will be "coming home" to their constituents and a full schedule of Town Hall meetings.
It is your opportunity and your responsibility as a citizen, to attend the Town Hall meetings and tell your Representatives, in person, how you feel about the massive amnesty bill hanging out in the House. S 744 is such a massive, horrible bill with so many loopholes and built in problems that will virtually ruin the US as we know it, that we must kill this bill before it ever gets the chance to leave the House this fall.
Please, go to your local Town Hall meetings and tell your Representatives, in no uncertain terms, that you DO NOT want an amnesty bill of any kind...PERIOD! Members of Congress MUST hear this repeatedly, loud and clear, from their constituents!
OFIR will post the Townhall schedules as they become available. Check back often.
Ladies and gentlemen - 'tis the season to collect signatures for the referendum to overturn SB 833 - the new law giving driver privilege cards to illegal aliens. There are so many great signature gathering opportunities in so many locations across the state. Check out or Protect Oregon Driver Licenses website for a long list of upcoming events.
The 2013 Oregon Legislature has just adjourned. What that means is that we now have only 90 days left to collect 58,142 signatures to get the issue of driver privilege cards for illegal aliens on the ballot so Oregon voters can decide for themselves if this is what we want for Oregon.
SB 833 would provide a state issued ID, in the form of a driver privilege card, to illegal aliens with minimal (and questionable) requirements.
Protect Oregon Driver Licenses has filed a referendum to get the issue on the November 2014 ballot and let voters decide.
To gather signatures to help overturn the bill, please go to: www.ProtectOregonDL.org for more information.
The 2013 session of the Oregon Legislature is drawing to a close. What that means to Protect Oregon Driver Licenses is that we have only 90 days sine die (from adjournment) to gather the 58,142 valid signatures we need to qualify and to get the SB 833 referendum on the November 2014 ballot.
So many of you are working so very hard and PODL appreciates each and every one of you. But, now we need to really step on the gas and drive this buggy over the finish line with room to spare.
For those of you that have not yet started collecting signatures, I urge you to get started ASAP. It's amazing to me how easy it is to collect signatures for this particular issue. Remember, all we are doing is getting the new Legislation, SB 833 - giving driver privilege cards to illegal aliens - on the ballot so that Oregon voters have the opportunity to decide if they want this kind of law in our state.
There is no need to debate the immigration issue (which takes time away from signature gathering, too).
Simply ask: Do you think Oregon voters should have the opportunity to vote on SB 833 - a new law giving driver privilege cards to illegal aliens.
Most likely that's all you will need to say. It's that easy! So get out there, get going and start collecting signatures! Our state's future depends on you!
Got to: http://www.protectoregondl.org/announcements/tips-where-to-gather-signat... or http://www.protectoregondl.org/announcements/upcoming-signature-gatherin... for great ideas.
Is your city or town on the honor list of signature gatherers? If not, let us know! http://www.oregonir.org/alerts/your-city-or-town-honor-list-get-game-today
