WASHINGTON—Today the Supreme Court, in a unanimous ruling, refused to allow criminal aliens to stay in the United States following their unlawful reentry after their prior deportation for criminal conduct, reversing a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals decision that had allowed such aliens to stay if the crime they were originally deported for was no longer, according to intervening court decisions, an “aggravated felony.”. .

With the disgraceful spectacle of the Kavanaugh hearings still fresh in many people’s memories, America is about to witness another Supreme Court confirmation process, one that may make the last one look dignified by comparison. The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” policy requiring asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their applications are processed in the U.S.
The court’s decision overturns a 9th Circuit Court of Appeals injunction against the policy covering the entire U.S.-Mexico border. Justice Sonia Sotomayor was the only judge who dissented. However, the ruling does not dispel other legal challenges currently brought against the policy in other courts. . .
