Border Patrol Flying Migrants from the Canadian Border – to Texas?

Last week, Reuters news service reported that the Biden Administration has quietly begun flying illegal aliens apprehended at the Canadian border to Texas.  According to Reuters, the Border Patrol this month placed “about 100 migrants on two charter flights from Plattsburgh, New York, near the border with Canada, to the Texas cities of Harlingen and El Paso.”

As Reuters reports, the U.S. Border Patrol apprehended nearly 2,900 people crossing illegally from Canada into the United States in the five months since October, more than all of fiscal year 2022. About half of those were Mexicans, who do not need a visa to travel to Canada. . . . Read more about Border Patrol Flying Migrants from the Canadian Border – to Texas?

February Border Encounters Show Illegal Immigration Isn't Abating, It's Just Being Rerouted, Charges FAIR

The Biden administration’s new “border enforcement measures” have not succeeded in curbing record levels of illegal immigration, they’ve just rerouted much of the flow through legal ports of entry, charged the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data, released Thursday, reveals that the total number of border encounters in February, 212,266, remained at historic high levels. But due to the Biden administration’s flagrant abuse of parole authority, 83,389 illegal migrants were encountered at legal ports of entry by the Office of Field Operations (OFO), instead of attempting to enter between ports of entry. . . . Southern Border Security? DHS Phones It In For Nicaraguan Migrants

A record 35,500 migrants from Nicaragua were encountered at America’s southern border in December. So what did the Department of Homeland Security do? It added Nicaraguans to a lengthening list of foreign nationals who can use a reservation system to enter this country.

DHS calls its system “rigorous security vetting,”but, in fact, the agency has no way to check for criminal histories in a diplomatically estranged nation that is a pariah of Latin America.

The Migration Policy Institute reports that more than 200,000 Nicaraguans fled their country last year. In response, neighboring Costa Rica, the nearest landing spot, imposed new restrictions on incoming Nicaraguans, citing widespread abuse of the asylum system. Costa Rican officials said many are simply seeking economic opportunities (not legal grounds for asylum) and would not be at risk of harm or persecution in their native land. Rebuffed, tens of thousands have headed north. . . . Read more about Southern Border Security? DHS Phones It In For Nicaraguan Migrants

Too Little, Too Late: Biden Stages Carefully Choreographed Photo-Op at the Border

“President Biden’s three-hour stopover in El Paso on his way to Mexico was nothing more than a carefully choreographed photo-op designed to quell criticism of his refusal to get a firsthand look at what is happening at the border, rather than a serious effort to end a crisis he created and has purposefully worsened.

“When you take a step back, this crisis is all by design. During a 2019 primary debate, then-presidential candidate Biden explicitly urged migrants around the world to surge the border, with the intent of rubber-stamping their asylum claims: ‘I would, in fact, make sure that there is—we immediately surge to the border. All those people seeking asylum, they deserve to be heard.’

“In their first 100 days, the Biden administration took over 90 executive actions on immigration, many of which dismantled an effective system, making it easier for migrants to illegally enter and stay for good. Nearly every follow-up executive action or policy decision, including the unlawful parole program unveiled late last week, has been used to launder the crisis – not end it. . . . Illegal Aliens Overwhelming Arizona Border City: Locals

The Biden administration’s lax border policies are resulting in the Arizona border city of Yuma being pushed to the brink of collapse as it deals with a massive surge in illegal immigrants, with the region’s critical food production coming under threat, a local official said.

“Policies need to be changed when you see an unprecedented amount of people coming across the border that even supersedes what we saw under any of the other presidents for the past 30 years,” Yuma County Supervisor Jonathan Lines told Fox News. “They’re coming because they said that Biden told them to come, that we have an open border.” . . . Rep. Chip Roy Introduces Bill to Block Illegal Immigration until Border is Secure

Texas Rep. Chip Roy has introduced a bill in the House of Representatives that would block illegal aliens from entering the United States until the border wall is under "operational control."

"'The Border Safety and Security Act' which was first introduced last year and would authorize the Homeland Security Secretary to suspend the entry of illegal immigrants into the United States, if he determines it 'necessary in order to achieve operational control' of the border," reports Fox News.

Additionally, the legislation would mandate the suspension of entry of aliens if DHS cannot properly detain them or place them in effective programs like the Trump-era Migrant Protection Protocols (Remain in Mexico). The bill currently has 49 co-sponsors in the House. . . . Read more about Rep. Chip Roy Introduces Bill to Block Illegal Immigration until Border is Secure

Amid 2022’s massive migrant surge, numbers in ICE detention remain low

In 2022 the southern border once again saw enormous migrant numbers coming across as it had in 2021, with frequently more than 200,000 encounters a month. However, the number of illegal immigrants in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention has remained relatively low throughout the crisis, even as border apprehensions take up a greater share of the detained population. There were more than 2.3 migrant encounters in Fiscal Year 2022. So far, FY 2023, which began in October has been on track to outpace that number, as numbers have surged to the border in anticipation of the end of the Title 42 public health order. . . .
