DHS Secretary: Border is Closed But Children Won't Be Expelled

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says the U.S.–Mexico border is closed, although unaccompanied children who unlawfully cross into the United States won’t be turned back.

“We are expelling families. We are expelling single adults. And we’ve made a decision that we will not expel young, vulnerable children. I think we are executing on our plans,” Mayorkas told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on March 21.

Mayorkas was then asked by Chuck Todd, the host, about whether the policy encourages parents in Mexico and other countries to send their children alone to the border.

“We have a short-term plan, a medium-term plan, and a long-term plan, and the president and I have spoken to this repeatedly. Please remember something: That President [Donald] Trump dismantled the orderly, humane, and efficient way of allowing children to make their claims under United States law in their home countries,” the secretary said, without elaborating. . . Cartels Use Wristbands to Track Human Smuggling Over Border

McALLEN, Texas—Illegal border-crossers are coming into the United States wearing wristbands that relate to the smuggling organization or cartel that they paid to cross the river, according to new reports and confirmation by Border Patrol agents.

The wristbands have been spotted on illegal immigrants in the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas, as well as discarded on the ground beyond the river. Some illegal aliens were found wearing two different colored wristbands.

The system “basically outlines a process that the smugglers are using to know who paid, who didn’t, so that they can start moving them through—because they’ve got so many people backing up,” according to Jaeson Jones, a former captain in the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The wristbands have numbers, words, and logos on them. “We’ve seen turtles, we’ve seen devil heads and little snakes,” Jones told The Epoch Times. The Gulf Cartel (CDG) is using the word “metal” to signify a certain leader on the Mexico side, he said. . . Read more about Cartels Use Wristbands to Track Human Smuggling Over Border

Biden Administration Refuses To Say How Many Kids Are In Cages; Florida Takes Legal Action

Since he took office nearly two months ago, Joe Biden has failed to address the public regarding any of the issues facing our country, most specifically the crisis at the border.

Even his press secretary, Jen Psaki, skirts around the topic, refusing to confirm reports that the number of detained unaccompanied minors at the border has tripled since Biden took office.

“I’m not going to confirm numbers from here,” Psaki said during the White House press briefing. “Obviously, the Department of Homeland Security and others are overseeing the programs and engagements that happen at the border.”. . US Border Patrol. Arrests 22 Wanted Fugitives

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) over the past week arrested a total of 22 wanted fugitives at various entry points along the U.S.–Mexico border in Texas.

Among them was a person who was wanted for injury to a child charges, and another person who was wanted for assault on a family member. All of those arrested were turned over to local authorities to face charges.

“CBP is committed to helping find and arresting these wanted persons attempting to evade justice,” Hector Mancha, CBP El Paso director of field operations, said in a statement. “We are members of the communities we serve and have a professional and personal interest in stopping any and all violations.”. . Arizona and Montana Take Legal Action Against Biden Admin ICE Arrest Regulations

Arizona and Montana are taking legal action (pdf) to block new Biden administration immigration regulations, saying that these would cause negative consequences for the states.

The new rules would limit the capability of ICE to detain some illegal immigrants unless they pose a threat to national security, entered through the border after Nov. 1, or committed aggravated felonies.

The Biden administration says that the rules don’t impair arresting or deporting people, but the officers in the field would need to request permission from their superiors to arrest people outside of the aforementioned cases.

“If asked about the poorest policy choice I’ve ever seen in government, this would be a strong contender,” Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich said in a statement. “Blindly releasing thousands of people, including convicted criminals and those who may be spreading COVID-19 into our state, is both unconscionable and a violation of federal law. This must be stopped now to avoid a dangerous humanitarian crisis for the immigrants and the people of Arizona.”. . DH Seeks Volunteers to Help With "Overwhelming Surge" at Border

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is seeking volunteers from among its agencies to assist in dealing with an “overwhelming” migrant surge at the U.S.-Mexico border, as the Biden administration continues to deny that there’s a crisis.

“Today, I activated the Volunteer Force to support Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as they face a surge in migration along the Southwest Border,” DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in an email to employees on March 8, obtained by several news outlets.

“You have likely seen the news about the overwhelming numbers of migrants seeking access to this country along the Southwest Border,” Mayorkas said. . .

Mexico Steamrolls Biden Administration, Now Outright Refusing to Accept Captured Illegal Immigrants

They’ve only been in office for a little over two weeks, but President Joe Biden and his administration are already throwing a 2014 party at the southern border — with Mexico’s help.

According to Reuters, officials in Texas are releasing illegal immigrant families from Central America because several Mexican provinces are refusing to take them back. The refusals have led to crowded Border Patrol facilities — and the release of immigrants to shelters.

The Biden administration had tried to preclude this. Yes, it introduced an immigration bill that amounted to amnesty — but it ensured that anyone who arrived in the country after Jan. 1 wouldn’t be eligible for the plan, which would provide an eight-year path to citizenship. . .

The Biden Immigration Plan Is Leading to a 'Perfect Storm' at the Border

Joe Biden’s immigration agenda along with the executive orders he’s already signed are creating a “perfect storm” of conditions at the border for a surge, says Tom Homan, former ICE director.Biden’s halt to deportations, his dismantling of the “Remain in Mexico” policy and the cancellation of border wall construction are sending powerful signals to the hundreds of thousands of people hoping to enter the U.S. that our borders are a fiction and that entering the United States is just a matter of showing up at the border.

The president is playing with fire and doesn’t appear to have any idea of the forces he is about to unleash. . . Read more about The Biden Immigration Plan Is Leading to a 'Perfect Storm' at the Border

Strong Borders in Light of Covid

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted a gaping hole in America’s ability to protect the health and welfare of her citizens. For the safety of us all, our federal government should take immediate action to stop the introduction of deadly diseases through our southern border. If bureaucrats can spend so much time, effort, and money shutting down businesses, churches, and schools, why can’t they shut down the flow of illegal immigrants? Illegals bypass not only vetting for criminal intent, but for dangerously infectious conditions as well. . . Read more about Strong Borders in Light of Covid
