Man accused of multiple burglaries and thefts near Beaverton is sentenced to prison

Summary: A man suspected of multiple burglaries and thefts has been convicted and sentenced in Washington County Circuit Court.

The case: Last fall, a number of burglaries occurred in the Fairfield neighborhood, an unincorporated area east of Southwest Cedar Hills Boulevard near Beaverton. The break-ins took place during daytime hours, and items taken were primarily electronics and jewelry, authorities said. After investigation by the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Ivan Reyes-Ortega, 30, was arrested Nov. 16 on multiple accusations.

Update: On Dec. 29, Reyes-Ortega pleaded guilty to five of the 15 counts he was facing; four counts of first-degree burglary and one count of first-degree theft. The other 10 charges were dismissed.

Sentence: Reyes-Ortega was sentenced to four years in prison. After completion of his prison term, Reyes-Ortega will be turned over to federal immigration officials for processing.
