OFIR hosts PIZZA and POLITICS this Saturday at 2:00pm.

Senator Bruce Starr will be our guest speaker, a candidate for the position of Commissioner, Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries. His opponent is the incumbent Commissioner, Brad Avakian, a former state legislator who is an outspoken supporter of driver privileges for illegal aliens, and who has done nothing to curb the hiring of illegal aliens.

Please join us and ask questions about how he intends to address the fact that while over 200,000 Oregonians are without jobs, nearly 100,000 illegal aliens are illegally employed.

Also, hear from OFIR President, Cynthia Kendoll, as she gives a wrap up of her experiences at the National Sheriff's Border School and Tour in El Paso, Texas just 2 weeks ago.

Your questions are always welcome!  Invite a friend, enjoy a slice a pizza and learn what you can do to help stop illegal immigration.

The Obama administration announced that illegal aliens who take advantage of the “Deferred Action” rule, (DACA), will not be eligible for heath insurance under Obama Care.

The reason given for the denial is that illegal aliens applying for Deferred Action do not meet the definition of “lawfully present.”

In that Oregon’s driver license law, (SB 1080) requires “legal presence in the United States” it appears that Governor Kitzhaber's plan to grant driver licenses to DACA beneficiaries cannot proceed.  The Oregon Department of Justice is reviewing that decision now.

Salem and Keizer members, friends and supporters,

Sometimes it feels like the issue of illegal immigration is too big and there is nothing one person can do.  But, here is a great opportunity right in our own backyard!

On Monday, September 10th, the Keizer City Council will have a Work Session at 5:45 p.m (OFIR suggests arriving earlier, if possible). The topic for the work session will be the City Council Rule that requires youth councilors to be electors when they turn 18 years of age. In essence the rules require that youth councilors must be U.S. citizens.

The city council has come under pressure from outside groups to allow “undocumented aliens” to become youth councilors. Of course people who are not in the US legally cannot become electors. The purpose of the program is that the city council wanted young adults to gain experience and hopefully someday they would then decide to get involved in their local government. OFIR believes the program should be open only to American citizens and not those in our country illegally.  Please plan to attend and bring a friend or neighbor.  It is OFIR's understanding that pro-illegal immigration groups plan to "occupy" this event.  If so, please to NOT engage in any combative language or yelling.  Be polite and respectful if called on to comment.  We want everyone to be safe!

What: The work session will be held in the Keizer Council Chambers.

When: 5:45 Monday, September 10. (go earlier if possible)

Where: Keizer City hall, 930 Chemawa Road NE, Keizer, OR 97303.

OFIR encourages you to attend the work session and let the city council know that

you support their rule requiring only people legally in the country be allowed in the program.

The work session will start at 5:45 p.m. (get there earlier, if possible)

If you have any questions please call the OFIR office at (503) 435-0141.

The Feds have shut down an ongoing criminal investigation of Sheriff Arpaio.  No charges will be filed.

President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder have conducted a personal vendetta against the Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the State of Arizona because of their willingness to enforce laws against illegal immigration. The battle has often been front-page news.

On Friday, a day when politicians are prone to release unfavorable news, the Justice Department quietly announced that they are dropping the criminal investigation of Sheriff Joe Arpaio for alleged abuse-of-power charges. Unfavorable news for the Justice Department is good news for American citizens.Read the full story.

Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici claims that getting Americans back to work and rebuilding the economy is her number one goal. But, why has she refused to co-sponsor the Legal Workforce Act or any other E-Verify bills? This bill would mandate E-Verify nationwide, opening up to 7 million jobs for Americans and legal workers.

In fact, this bill would would put more Americans back to work than any other policy being discussed in Congress today. Check out the chart. Show it to Rep. Bonamici.

If you look at Rep. Bonamici's grade card, Rep. Bonamici has voted for amnesty twice! Why is Rep. Bonamici for policies that will further increase competition in an already over-crowded job market? 20 million Americans cannot find full time work, they certainly do not need to have illegal aliens to compete with too!

There is still time for Rep. Bonamici to do the right thing this congress. Co-sponsoring the Legal Workforce Act is a big one. There are two bills introduced by fellow House Democrats that Rep. Bonamici could co-sponsor. She can also challenge the leadership of both parties who want to give out even more work permits than we already do each year.

Rep. Bonamici will be hosting town hall meetings around her district the next several days.

We are asking you to participate in the town hall and ask Rep. Bonamici about her immigration record.

Friday, August 24, 2012, 10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m.
Astoria Senior Center, 1111 Exchange Street, Astoria, OR

Some talking points:

Congresswoman Bonamici, there are 20 million Americans who cannot find full time work while millions of illegal aliens are working in non-agricultural jobs. This isn't fair to American workers! Fellow House Democrat Rep. DeFazio has sponsored an E-Verify bill, please co-sponsor his bill and prove to me your number one priority is getting Oregonians back to work!

Rep. Bonamici, Washington gives out over 1 million work permits every year for new immigrants. With millions of Americans and recent immigrants already unemployed, why are we bringing one million more workers here every year? Do you support lowering this number?

If you cannot attend an event, drop off Rep. Bonamici's grade card at her local offices or give her a call.

On June 15, 2012, the Obama Administration usurped Congressional authority by unilaterally amending federal immigration policy to grant backdoor amnesty to illegal aliens meeting criteria similar to that of the failed DREAM Act. This broad usurpation of Congressional power came not in the form of an executive order or regulation, but by a mere policy memorandum authored by the Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano.

Under the Secretary's directive, illegal aliens up to the age of 30 who meet certain criteria can affirmatively apply for what's called "deferred action," which allows them to remain in the country for a period of two years in spite of their unlawful status. The memorandum also allows illegal aliens to simultaneously apply for work authorization, adding an estimated 1.8 million to the workforce at time of record unemployment.

Nonetheless, Congress, which rejected the DREAM Act as recently as December 2010, has stood idly by while the Administration has enacted such policies and systematically dismantled enforcement of U.S. immigration law-the June 15 memorandum serving as the capstone to a presidential tenure filled with immigration policy created and manipulated by executive fiat.

As President Obama even admitted himself, it is Congress' job to pass the law and the executive branch's job to enforce the law. If Congress wants to gain the confidence of voters in this country, they MUST take immediate action! Although the Administration has stated it will begin accepting applications August 15, over 1,000 illegal aliens have already been granted a reprieve under this policy.

So far Congress-including leaders in both the House and the Senate-have sat on the sidelines instead of acting as the checks and balances instituted in the Constitution to this egregious usurpation of their power.

We need you to make phone calls to our Congressional "Leaders" each and every day until this affront on the rule of law stops.

Demand that they take the necessary steps to restore law and order to America's immigration laws. Tell them:

  • Halt the Obama amnesty! Congress has the power to stop the Administration's circumvention of U.S. immigration law-it must exercise it.
  • Granting amnesty is an affront to all law-abiding Americans and legal immigrants.
  • Especially at times of high unemployment, Americans need immigration laws enforced, not another amnesty.
