Organizers describe the protests' purpose as:

"On July 18 and 19, 2014, the largest coordinated protest against all forms of amnesty, comprehensive immigration reform, and the government's failure to enforce immigration laws and secure our borders will begin, all across America. The protests are scheduled to be held at state capitols, Mexican consulates, and on streets and overpasses coast-to-coast, including Hawaii and Alaska."

Please take the time to stop by for an hour or two and show your support.

OFIR is not involved in organizing these protests. However, we are participating and recognize that they present an excellent opportunity for concerned Americans to make their concerns known to the public and especially to the media.

Please note the following guidelines / suggestions provided by CAIRCO (Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform):

Signs: Make your own. Lettering has to be very large - probably a foot high with heavy letters and with few words in upper case. Drivers will have at most a second or two to read your sign. Keep message focused. For example:

        SECURE OUR BORDER

DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS

NO ILLEGALS

OBAMA CLOSE THE BORDER

etc.

We would suggest not using inappropriate terminology such as undocumented immigrants and illegal immigrants - more info.

Media: If you are approached by the media, know what you are going to say before you speak. Have a list of two or three talking points and go back to them when a reporter tries to make you say something that can be used against you. For example:

Reporter: Why are you here today?

A: To insist that President Obama secure our border against unauthorized entry of illegal aliens.

Reporter: So you don't like immigrant children?

A: I think all children should be cared for by their families in their home countries. If I sent my American children to travel unattended to a foreign country, I would be arrested for child neglect. We can solve that problem by securing our border.

Reporter: So you support Comprehensive Immigration Reform?

A: Absolutely not. I do not support amnesty for illegal aliens of any kind. We already have laws on the books which we can enforce to secure our border. Right now. Today.

Reporter: Isn't it racist to deny these children an opportunity in America?

A: This has nothing to do with race. I am concerned about the impact of mass immigration on Americans - of all races, creeds, and colors. We need to secure our border and deport those who have snuck into America.

The law: Obey all laws, including traffic and parking signs. If a police officer requests you to do something, and his request is within the law, please do it. You have the Constitutional right to free speech and free assembly. Do not become confrontational. Have your cell phone and/or video camera with you. Video recordings are important.

Open borders goons: It is possible that anti-American open borders nutcases will be at the protests, possibly mingling with the crowd. Avoid physical conflict. Video recordings are important, especially to prevent confrontations and to document any that occur.

Personal: Take water with you. Keep extra water in your car. Prepare for sun and heat. Casual dress - no uniforms, no camo. Have handi wipes with you and in your car. We do not condone violence. However, here is an article containing guidelines for passive resistance in Murrieta, CA.

Have fun! See you there!Additional information from the press release about the protests:

Overpasses for America, Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC), and the new group that initiated the protests Make Them Listen are pleased to announce that American citizens who are encouraged by the turning back of Obama's illegal immigrant filled buses in Murrieta, California, and Oracle, Arizona, are now joining protests of varied sizes at state capitals, Mexican Consulates, overpasses, intersections, and illegal immigrant drop off points and detention facilities.

"Our goal is to unify Americans of every race, political party, and walk of life against this Obama-inspired invasion of our American homeland!" said William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. "We want to harness the grass roots backlash forming out there and channel it into the remaining GOP primaries and general elections of 2014 to throw as many immigration reform amnesty supporters out of office as possible this year!"

"These protests are designed to raise public awareness and opposition to the Obama-inspired illegal immigration surge on our Southern border!" said Paul Arnold of Make them Listen. "Obama has become our 'Smuggler in Chief' and his illegal immigrant agenda is putting American jobs, taxpayer resources, and lives at risk."

Paul Arnold has launched a Facebook event page to create and organize the protests. https://www.facebook.com/events/1476471035921641/

"This border crisis is a result of Obama's dereliction of duty and his refusal to honor his oath of office, our laws, our borders, and the US Constitution that guarantees that 'all states shall be protected from invasion'" said James Neighbors of Overpasses for America. "We need to protest and elect new members of Congress who will stop Obama's abuses of power and this invasion. Obama is making it clear that he cares more about illegal immigrants than the American citizens of all races who elected him."
